These from scratch cinnamon rolls are so delicious and they're super simple. They only require 1 proof so they aren't AS time consuming. Still takes about 3 hours start to finish however.
This recipe was so delicious and honestly pretty fun to make. Also this recipe was really elevated by using my new Saigon Cinnamon from The Spice House.
I 100% recommend trying this, and if you use code "DowellCooks" you'll get 10% off your total order! It's a win in my book.
Cinnamon Rolls

Ingredients
For the Dough-
2 & 3/4 cup flour
1/4 cup sugar
2 & 1/4 tsp active yeast
1 large egg
1/2 tsp salt
3 tbsp butter (unsalted)
For the Filling-
2-3 tbsp butter (for spreading so try to use super soft butter)
1/3 cup PACKED brown sugar
1 tbsp Cinnamon
For the Icing-
2 cup powdered sugar
2 tbsp melted butter
2 tsp vanilla extract
3-4 tbsp cream or half & half
Directions
Directions should always be short and to the point.
Mix together your dry ingredients (Flour, Sugar, Salt).
Add your butter to your milk and get to 100-110 degrees and mixed well. Throw your yeast in it and let it sit for 3-4 minutes.
Add your egg to your dry ingredients as well as your yeast mixture. Beat until a nice dough starts to form.
Kneed the dough on a lightly floured work surface for 4-5 minutes. Place in a lightly greased bowl and let rest for 10 minutes.
While the dough rests we assemble our filling. Mix together your brown sugar and cinnamon until nicely incorporated. Place to the side for now.
Once dough is fully rested roll it out into a large rectangle. I do about 8 inches by 12. Smear the top of the dough with your butter and sprinkle it evenly with your filling.
Starting for the bottom of the rectangle- roll up to form a large log and cut into 9 even cinnamon rolls. Place in a greased baking pan (I used a 9x9 brownie pan), and let proof for 60-90 minutes or until double in size. Took about 70 minutes for me.
Bake in the oven at 375 for 25-27 minutes or until golden.
While they're baking let's assemble the icing. Mix together your powdered sugar, cream, vanilla & butter. You want this mixture to be slightly thicker because it will melt from the warmth of the buns.
Let buns cool for 5 minutes from the oven then top with icing and serve!
