Easy Classic Egg Nog Recipe
Ingredients
- 2 cups whole milk
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 6 large egg yolks
- ½ cup sugar
- 1 cinnamon stick
- ½ tsp ground nutmeg
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- pinch of cinnamon + more for topping.
Instructions
- In a large sauce pan over medium low heat add your milk, nutmeg & vanilla extract. Mix this well then drop in your cinnamon stick and bring to a light simmer.
- In a separate large bowl mix together your egg yolks and sugar. Now slowly temper your eggs by adding a little bit of your simmering milk and mixing well, until you’ve fully combined your milk with the egg & sugar mixture.
- Transfer this back to the stove top and bring to a simmer again and let thicken (3-4 minutes). Remove the heat and stir in your heavy cream and then place in a bowl or pitcher and refrigerate over night.
- Once the mixture is chilled serve in a mug with some cinnamon and star anise & enjoy!
